Oxymel - Rosemary Thyme

Oxymel - Rosemary Thyme

8 oz

An oxymel is a type of herbal elixir made from vinegar and honey. The word oxymel comes from the ancient Greek words “oxys” meaning “acid” and “meli” meaning “honey”. The simplest description is an herbal extraction of vinegar and raw honey. Oxymels are often used to help boost the immune system, soothe dry throats, and temper digestive issues. They are also a great way to extract and ingest supportive herbs, particularly pungent ones that aren’t always pleasant to take on their own

Goldenrod is a flowering plant in the Asteraceae family that has been used in traditional medicine for various purposes. The genus name Solidago comes from the Latin words solida meaning “whole” and ago meaning “to make,” so the literal meaning of the name is “to make whole.” According to one source, goldenrod is believed to have diuretic, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, antifungal, antioxidant, analgesic, antispasmodic, antihypertensive, antitumor and antidiabetic properties1

Goldenrod can be used as a diuretic and for urological conditions. It is also thought to help reduce inflammation, relieve muscle spasms, fight infections, and lower blood pressure 2

Many people mistakenly blame Goldenrod for allergies which are actually caused by ragweed, a plant that frequently grows nearby. However, it is factually impossible for goldenrod to be the culprit of seasonal allergies, because its pollen is too heavy and sticky to be carried on the wind. Additionally it contains a constituent called quercetin which acts as an antihistamine, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant 3

Turmeric is a spice that has been used in traditional medicine for centuries. According to a source, turmeric has anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and anticancer properties. It is also believed to help with digestion, improve brain function, and reduce the risk of heart disease2.

Curcumin, the active ingredient in turmeric, is responsible for many of its health benefits. It has been shown to reduce inflammation in the body and may help alleviate symptoms of arthritis and other inflammatory conditions3.

Turmeric is also thought to have neuroprotective properties and may help improve cognitive function in older adults4.
