Herbal Tea - Citrusy Hop Tea

Herbal Tea - Citrusy Hop Tea

Seasonal Blend | Herbal, caffeine free, gluten free | ~10 servings per 1 oz package, loose leaf

Citrusy hop tea is amazing when infused and added to sparkling water. It’s fine as a regular drinking tea (although bitter), but really shines when chilled and fizzed. I recommend 2 ounces of hop tea + 6 ounces of sparkled water. My favorite results are achieved by brewing ahead of time, cooling the tea, and adding plain (unflavored) bubbly water either from a can or from a sodastream sparkling water maker. The hoppy aroma and slightly bitter + orange and lemon notes make it a refreshing afternoon beverage. I hope you love it like I do!

How to Brew hop tea

Using a kettle or a microwavable measuring cup, heat 4+ ounces water. For optimum flavor, heat water to nearly boiling. Shake bag to distribute ingredients that have settled. 1 TBSP of hop tea blend per short 4 ounces of water makes two tasty servings of hop tea. Choose your method of steeping.

Loose: Place the hop tea blend in a cup that can handle heat and be easily poured from. Pour your desired amount of hot water over the hop tea blend.

Filter: Place the hop tea blend in the filter then place the filter in a measuring cup or mug. Pour hot water over the hop tea blend to cover the leaves in the filter. Dunk the filter a few times to distribute the water as the tea brews.

Infuser: Place the infuser in a mug then place the hop tea blend in the infuser. Pour hot water over the hop tea blend to cover the leaves in the infuser and fill the mug.

Steep for about 5 minutes (longer steep time results in stronger bitter hops flavor). Remove the hop tea blend using a tea strainer or filter. You will see some small sediment from the hops flowers both settling to the bottom and floating to the top, so strain through a tight filter if you don’t like those. Sip warm as-is for a calming (although bitter!) small hot cup of tea. OR (highly recommended!) set aside to come up to room temperature, or chill in a fridge. Then add about 2 ounces of hop tea to about 6 ounces of unflavored sparkling water and enjoy! Cheers!
